Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay was born on August 24 1972 at Long Beach California. DuVernay received support from her Aunt Denise at the age of an infant. Her aunt, a night-shift nurse, let her explore art and literature as well as the theatre in daylight. DuVernay was exposed to the movie of 1961 West Side Story by her aunt. She attended University of California Los Angeles for a degree in English in addition to African American Studies. When she was in school, DuVernay was interested in creating for television journalism. She began as an intern for CBS News during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay remembered being told to look at the trash of a jury member's home. The tasks that she had to complete left her unhappy and, following her decision not to pursue a career in the field of journalism, she was able to move to the field of public relations. DuVernay joined a small studio as a junior publicist shortly after graduating from college. The company she founded for her own PR, The DuVernay Agency was established in 1999. Besides PR, the agency created several lifestyle networks including Urban Beauty Collective, Urban Thought Collective Urban Eye, HelloBeautiful.
